Mercy Centre

Language Express supports Bangkok orphanage, The Mercy Centre, with donations of food, books and toys. Language Express also arranges outings where our staff & students take the children & their carers to places the children have chosen (popular kids choices have included KFC and the Big C Supermarket). When you see the Mercy Centre donation boxes at Coffee Shop please feel free to drop in any loose coins.

Wat Phra Buhddabat

In 2007 the Language Express founders were invited to assist in setting up an English Program at Wat Phra Buddhabat. The temple is located in Saraburi Province and home to around 300 monks and novices. Through the English program free lessons were provided for local children & adults, monks & novices. The program began when Michael lived at taught at the temple for three months. Michael and Simon then sponsored local teachers to travel to Australia and train as TESOL teachers at their school in Sydney. The students returned to Thailand as certified teachers to continue the good work at Wat Phra Buddhabat.  For two years also they supplied a full-time teacher to the temple on a non-profit basis. The first year the English teacher was Mr. Nicholas Mann M.A., The second year the teacher was Ms Natalie Jones BA, Dip Mus. As a result of their involvement in this project, they supported the Buddhist Sangha in Australia by providing free English lessons to Thai and Laotian monks living in Sydney at their school - Greenwich College.
